Homosexuality in the Media

I guess I just don't understand why our society makes such a big deal about two people of the same sex kissing. To me its just normal for people to show affection on TV. I never thought about the reasoning why gay couples aren't affectionate with each other until we discussed it in class. It never occurred to me that they didnt show as much affection as other couples. I dont understand what the big deal is though. If they can have a relationship and they can be open with it on TV, why can they not show that they love each other? One show that I think does a little bit better is Grey's Anatomy. There is a lesbian couple on there and you always see them kissing each other. They openly talk about their sex lives with their friends. Although sometimes they do use code names for certain body parts. Overall though I feel like it does a good job of showing both homosexual and heterosexual relationships and the affection that occurs.
