Walk a Mile in Her Shoes - Gender Reversal

As Alexis talked about in her blog post regarding the Walk A Mile in Her Shoes event I was attending the event with the football players that she talked about as a group. Our coaches were the ones who really kept on talking to us about attending this event and made sure that we had a large group so we can show our support around campus and for such a good cause like this one. A lot of us at first were a little reluctant just because we thought it was going to be another boring community service event but we were for sure wrong after attending and seeing some stuff that went on.

We all gathered at the beginning of the event and one of our coaches took some pictures and then we listened to a couple speakers. Like Marisha talks about in her post one of the "Ass Slapees" was in attendance and in the nature of the event she talked for a little about how important it is for people to really understand the whole situation of what had happened and for women to stand up and not take it anymore. After hearing and seeing so much about this Ball State Ass Slapper I found myself once again hearing about it from another forum which again shows how much impact the "Ass Slapping" has really had on our campus. After our football group walked the mile for support of the event things got interesting. Many of the event planners were pressuring some of us to get in the high heels and do the obstacle course and almost all of us were reluctant at first but eventually some of us gave in. Luckily they did not have my heel size(15) so i got to pass up the opportunity to run in the obstacle course. In the spirit of competition a bunch of the players did the obstacle and really competed hard even full out sprinting in heels which i have never seen done which was quite funny. All of us that were attending did not have any idea or plans on doing anything like running in heels but just being at the event and seeing how much it really meant to the planners and that a lot of people were really out there they ended up doing it, which i thought was pretty cool.
