Ball State did the right thing by sending an email to warn students of the situation. They have a crisis plan that they use everytime a sexual assualt occurs. However small it was, those girls were violated and have every right to call the police. It was discussed in class that maybe they should have worded the email differently so It did not sound like a joke. I am not going to lie, when i saw the email, I had to read it again because I thought it was soo odd. The fact that there is a facebook group with over 12,000 fans for the Ass slapper Is kind of humurous to me. I can see how this group would offend the girls that were assualted becasue thats basically saying that the students support what happened. I do not think it is so much that they support it but Its facebook and you should not take social networking that serious. There is a fan page for some ridiculous things out there. The sooner people stop making a big deal about taking sides, the sooner this will pass. If it keeps gaining publicity on the news and by other facebook groups then its going to stay strong. something will happen that everyone will move onto with more facebook pages and controversey. Students are going to rebel. when the president of the school tells us we can not do soemthing, it is only going to get bigger. there were 5,000 fans before president gora sent her email our. there are over 12,000 now. did her email accomplish anything? or did it fuel more students to support a cause they dont want us to support? the sooner they stop making a big deal about students having this fan page the sooner they will be over it. this will pass. now its how long will it take to pass?
