What lengths will people go to in order to promote their movie?

People today keep constantly pushing the limits of fashion and the media.  They seem to be trying to go as far as they can, without going over the top.  I think that the people of VMan have gone over the top this time.  They have decided to put Shrek characters in a fashion spread that consists of a bunch of half-naked young adults partying and in very promiscuous looking situations.  I understand how movie companies are always looking for new, inventive ways to promote their upcoming releases (I work at target and no matter where I go in the store I see Miley Cyrus’ face on everything- from pillows to t-shirts to band aids, and even waffles), but I fail to see how Princess Fiona juggling her three children while at a dance party filled with wild young adults is going to convince people to go see the newest Shrek movie.  Maybe they were trying to give Shrek a new edgier image in order to make the transition along with their original young fans from the first movie who are now young adults.  But I thought Shrek was supposed to be a family film for all ages.  If they want to promote a racier image in order to appeal to an older audience, they need to be ready to say goodbye to their new fans under the age of 10 because I guarantee there will be a lot of parents who feel that the donkey looking like he “had just been in a threesome” is a little mature for their young children.
