K.. So I thought I posted something buuut it didn't post sooo here is my real post... ?
The Dramatistic Perspective After today’s class I felt like I actually understood the Dramatic perspective. I read the text briefly and had a decent understanding before class but after the group discussions and examples I was able to really feel comfortable with it and would be able to apply it one my own. I enjoy the Dramatic perspective more than the others because like someone said today, it is just more entertaining. Analyzing why someone broke a rule, be it a societal norm or a law, brings excitement to the text. Then working your way through it in attempts to figure out what happened, what and who was involved and then determining why it occurred is enjoyable to me. With the Narrative perspective I felt that it was very routine and boring. This happened, and then you just look at the situation as a whole. Although the Dramatic perspective cannot adequately be applied to every text it because it does require a breaking of rules it I feel that I will still use this one more frequently than the others, when possible. I also look at it as a personal challenge to try and find a broken rule because I feel like that almost anything can be looked at in such a way that some rule was broken. Snooki, for example, did not break any law but some of her actions were seen as atypical and therefore was seen as breaking norms. By her going out and specifically looking for a “guido” and calling herself a “guidette” isn’t something that most people, pre-Jersey Shore at least, would view as positive or even appropriate.
