Upon Further Thought...

I'll admit, at first I thought the "ball state ass slapper" was funny. I saw it as comedic and interesting because Ball State was getting a bit boring. I guess I never really stopped and thought about how the victim's felt. As I thought about this, I began to think about what I would've done and actually what I had done when other guys have touched my butt at parties or at Dill St. I don't like, so I know those girls didn't feel comfortable at all. It's true when people say you have to look at all aspects of a story. All this time I had been looking at it as comedy, but not really looking at it as assault. It is sad that something like this has happened and people have been taking it to anoher level. Maybe they should stop and look at it from the victim's point of view.

FaceBook and Twitter

The discussion we had in class was so interesting. There's always debate about the good and bad aspects of social networking sites, but i really believe that the good outweigh the bad. Being able to talk to people from all over is so cool. Having the opportunity to reconnect with people from the past is a good thing. Your facebook is truly your identity. Even though I sold my facebook page, i still have control over it. I could do without them changing my status about their parties from time to time but i do feel it takes a little bit of myself out of my profile. My next favorite site is twitter. I looooove twitter. To me its so much better than facebook. Its alot more live and you can put how you feel, talk to other people and even celebrities. It's cool. Without these social networking sites people wouldn't be able to find out different types of information, talk to friends and relay how they feel. I know alot of college students can count on facebook with organizational groups, events and parties. Socal netwoking is a new way of doing things.

Ball State Ass Slapper

Charlie Cardinal. Happy Friday Guy. Carter. and now, The Ball State Ass Slapper.
I really don't think that this is a serious as the campus is making it out to be. Yeah, its ok for us to be aware that some guy is going around slapping girls' butts, but its nothing like robberies or kidnappings going on on campus. I look at it as comic relief. Its funny to know that this is going around here. Its even funnier to know that it has made it to news and other schools know about it. I wonder if he's slapped any more butts?? I tried to think about what I would do if a a kid riding a bike rode by me and slapped me... I would be stunned and then i'd laugh, but I dont think I would tell the campus police. But thats just me. This is soooo funny though.

Homosexuality in Television

The homosexuality in television discussion in class made me think. I feel like when homosexuals are portrayed, we only relly see it in a humorous light. I think the reason for that is because even though it is a little accepted, it makes everyone feel more comfortable to "laugh at the gay people". Personally, I wouldnt want to watch a drama about a homosexual couple with intimate scenes and kissing, but I definitely enjoyed watching the clips from Modern Family. Maybe in the future America's main view on homosexuality will change but for now I feel like their accurate portrayal is only half way through the door.

Toddler's and Tiaras

I really don't think that show is that bad. I may be a bit biased because I am a pageant girl. Sometimes it can be taken a little too far with the very very small and young girls but for the most part I feel that pageantry is a good thing. Pageantry builds self-esteem and instills self- confidence in the girls that participate in them. Before I started doing pageants I was vey shy and reserved, but things changed as soon as I entered into the National American Miss Pageant at young age. Being on stage with all eyes on you gives you a rush. You have to be very confident in yourself. You start believing in yourself and you ultimately end up with more confidence than what you started with. Pageant girls are some of the brightest and most intelligent girls that one could ever meet. It's just a plus that they happen to be beautiful. CROWN=CRACK. who wouldn't want to win a crown, sash and a title? That's what every contestant is after ultimately. People may look down upon pageantry for younger girls but it's just like little league sports and any other hobbies. People are allowed to take their crafts seriously. Pageanty deserves more respect because I know that little girls all over dream on becoming Miss America. "There she is, Miss America, there she is, your ideal. The dream of a million girls.." I know I'm one of those girls and I can't wait to hear that song playing while someone puts a crown on top of my head.
I know people arent going to agee, because not eveyone loves everything, but instead of looking a something in a negative light, see it for its positives.
